Kitchen Remedies

There are a multitude of ways you can use your kitchen basics to solve household, health, and beauty issues - be it baking soda to unclog a sink, ginger ale to soothe an upset stomach, or lemon juice to fade freckles. Today, though, I was wondering what I could find in my cupboards to help my parched hair rehydrate. Many of the remedies I found required a mayonnaise base, but I do not want my hair to smell anything like cole slaw, so I decided to go a different route, mixing two parts olive oil (for moisture) to one part natural honey (for shine) until my hair was thoroughly saturated. I then wrapped my head in plastic wrap and dampened the inside of my shower cap with a bit of warm water before I put in on - better to help create a humid environment for my hair. I left the mask in for an hour and then shampooed twice. It was a bit tacky the next day, but after the next wash my hair looked quite a bit better and the effects lasted for over a month.
